Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Wouldn't it be great if a bunch of States passed a resolution like this. I sent this to my state reps today. I'll keep you posted on any progress. I suggest you all do the same with your states.

Dear Jamie, Joe and Ed,

Thank you for all you do already. I know it is hard work that is rarely appreciated. We all need your continued diligence to stop our Governor and her tax and spend cronies.

Maybe I missed it, and please accept my apologies if I did, but I don’t see any well orchestrated effort to fix our biggest problem – the economy. It appears that all of the focus and energy spent in Olympia is around tax increases and/or spending cuts, etc. Imagine how much better life for all would be if the economy were growing at a robust clip.

In an effort to help actually grow the economy of the USA and therefore the economy of Washington State, I have a modest suggestion. If you get this through, you would all be heroes. My suggestions is that you three, and any of your colleagues (from any side of the aisle), that also want to be heroes, pass a Resolution in the State Legislature asking the US House of Representatives, the US Senate and the White House to pass the FairTax bill (HB25/S 296).

The logic goes like this:

1. The FairTax bill passes and the US economy grows at over 10% in the first year (as measured by the GDP) – and so much more…..

2. When the US economy starts to grow, there is more demand for products and services from every state – including Washington State

3. Unemployment is virtually eliminated

4. The State coffers fill up again

5. The budget balancing conversation would become much easier.

I know these are bold claims. But I stand by them and would be happy to give you song and verse about how this would happen. BTW, Washington State is largely a FairTax State already (defined as no income tax but rather a sales tax). You would be asking Olympia to send a resolution to the US Government basically endorsing the system that we already actually use and have used for years. It would be hard for any elected official in Washington State to condemn their own system. It would also eliminate the need for Washington State to increase taxes or add an income tax. If you need more information on the FairTax Bill, please visit here: http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer The FairTax Bill is growing in popularity by leaps and bounds. Even Brian Baird came out in favor (with a modification that I’m sure he will drop).

I have no idea how to write a resolution but took a shot at it here. I hope it helps. Please let me know what you think.

The US House of Representatives
The Speaker of the House
The US Senate
The Majority Leader of the Senate

Be it resolved that the people of Washington State respectfully request that the US House of Representatives, the US Senate and the President of the United Stares sign the FairTax Bill (HB25/S 296) into law.

Whereas:

The US Domestic Economy is in terrible condition
And as a result, the Washington State economy is in terrible condition

Whereas:

Unemployment in the US is at record highs
And as a result, the Washington State unemployment rate is also at record highs

Whereas:

With no clear indication that the US (and therefore Washington State economy) is poised for rapid growth, it has become impossible for Washington State to balance our budget without job killing tax increases or massive reduction in services.

Whereas:

Washington State needs our economy to grow. For that to happen, we need the US economy to grow. After years of research, the people of Washington State have discovered a solution that will grow the US and therefore Washington State economies. It is called the FairTax Bill.

Whereas:

The people of Washington State respectfully request that the US House of Representatives, the US Senate and the President of the United States expedite the passage of the FairTax Bill.

BTW, if anyone has a better idea to grow the economy, I am all ears. The bottom line is that US companies are at a structural disadvantage on the global economic stage. The FairTax Bill not only levels the playing field but gives US companies a structural advantage. I could go on all day……

Thanks
