Didn't recall seeing this here before. If I'm wrong, my bad. But we need to get behind this folks!

A note from FairTax Regional Director, Phil Hinson:

As most of you are aware, HR 1040 is the only flat tax bill in the House of Representatives, which is where tax reform legislation is supposed to originate in our system of government. I just checked on it and here is what I found.
The bill is now up to 10 co-sponsors. Hr 25 has 66.

... http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d112%3A1%3A.%2Ftemp%2F%7Ebd...|/home/LegislativeData.php|

POPVOX shows 773 votes recorded on the HR 1040 page with 68% opposed. HR 25 has vote a total of 5,276 with 80% in favor. That means that approximately 4,221 voters have registered their support for HR 25, while 248 have voted for HR 1040.

Thanks to everyone who voted for HR 25 on POPVOX in 2011. If you have not yet voted, please do so this week. It only takes a few minutes.

Phil

Just sent an e-mail to WIN America asking them to consider using the FairTax as their standard as it is an already established bill (HR25/S13) and has cosponsors in each house, has been well researched, and meets their needs. I also made it clear politely that i expected a response. We'll see what happens.

I will be on the Chuck Douglas show, News/Talk 610 WTVN in Columbus, Ohio on April 4, from 5:00 to 6:00(?)pm discussing the FairTax. We will be doing both discussion and call-ins, so tell all your friends. Obviously, the more calls, the better!!

Hi John, thanks for the comments. I am from Greene County, so I am not familar with any of these candidates. Just saw this and thought it might make Franklin County aware of what was going on. I keep learning every day.

In response to AsAMom:

I certainly respect your opinion and empathize with your desire to see solid conservatives in positions of leadership. However, when judging candidates I find it is always better to check the record, not the rhetoric.

As a conservative FIRST, and a Republican SECOND I was initially wary of Steve Stivers as a Congressional candidate. I liked his military background but his stance on abortion in particular gave me pause. However, when I looked at Mr. Stivers record as a State Senator I was surprised to see several things.

- He cosponsored the biggest property tax cut in the state's history (which passed)

- Sponsored, and passed, tort reform

- Received an "A" rating with my favorite organization...the NRA, and co-sponsored the castle doctrine (check it out, it's amazing it took us so long to reclaim that basic right)

- Was endorsed by NFIB and Chamber of Commerce

- Stivers received a 0% rating from NARAL and supports abortion only in cases of rape, incest, or life of the mother (which was also George W's position). I've heard he has a 100% prolife voting record but I couldn't find that statistic online.

Overall I am happy with his record, and I wonder what issues cause people to label him as a RINO. He's certainly a far cry from Mary Jo "Kiljobs."

I copied this from "AsAMom":

take back district 15
Posted by kathryn on February 10, 2010 at 7:16am in Ohio Moms

district 15 is controlled by PROGRESSIVE LIBERAL Mary Jo KILROY ... she won because the republican party refused to listen to the conservatives ... many voters contacted the republican party before the last election saying give us a true conservative ... instead they gave us Stivers ... a moral and fiscal liberal... even though the voters spoke and Stivers lost ... they are still refusing to listen ... they still think that they know "what is best for us" ... SEND them a message, ... NO MORE RINO's ... NO MORE STIVERS ... ... contact the franklin county republican party and tell them that we will only vote for moral and fiscal conservatives ..
