I had a chance to meet with Rep. Virginia Foxx at a townhall meeting for the Republican Party here in Boone today. I was able to make my fairtax pitch. She stated her main concern about the fairtax was that if passed, the Democrats would just add it on top of the present tax. Not really valid in my opinion, but any ideas on how to address this would be helpful. I assured her that I talk fairtax daily with people I meet and I encourage them to contact her and will try to inundate her with requests for her support. She did state that she was giving it "serious consideration" as she wanted to honor Rep. Linder who is planning on retiring. Don't really know how serious she really is or if it is just "politician" talk but I have gained strong support within the leadership of the Watauga Republican Party and I don't plan on giving up.
FYI, I am hosting a fairtax seminar on April 20th here in Boone. Information is posted on fairtax nation website. Rick
Keith Gardner is challenging Virginia Foxx in the Republican primary. I met with him regarding the fairtax. While stating that he didn't know enough about it to formally endorse it, he was very interested in learning more. He claims to be a constitutionalist and despised our current tax policies. His contact information is keith4congress@privacyharbor.com and phone is (828) 310-7018. He has very limited funds and is totlly an unknown but would love to get him to stir up the fairtax debate. The march 1 meeting went well. Now we need to contact Virginia Foxx again and again as well as Bill Kennedy (D)
and Brad Smith (I) who are challenging her. I need others in district 5 to help. Either post here to reach me or email directly to jp150@mindspring.com or call 510-1466. I'ts time to get the politicians to spread the FairTax word

It seems everyone has gave up on the Fair Tax thing in this group. I was hoping we could do more. I will keep checking in here to see what happens.
