Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Ronald Reagan once said "All great change in America begins at the dinner table." He was a man well known for his quick wit and humor that connected him to a broad audience. There isn't a single polititian in history that I agree with 100%. If I agreed with them 100% then they are not polititians, they are angles. Without getting into a long history about the Reagan presidency, we can all learn something from his emphasis on the individual. If you believed that government could handle your money well, you wouldn't be fighting for the fair tax. You stand for the fair tax because you believe that an individual should have the power to decide his or her own future and that is what I want to emphasize.

As fair tax supporters we are usually on fire because the oppossition is so great and we stand for a cause that is bigger than any of us, but we seem to be coming short on something. During a fair tax conference call we each agreed about a concern that we all feel about the distance that there is among fair tax supporters. We have amazing leadership that works tirelessly all the time to get this good piece of legeslation passed and they do an excellent job, but we need to step up.

Yestarday I went door to door promoting the fair tax. I was welcomed, ignored insulted and pretty much everything that you can think of, but there was someone else that changed my view on how I support the fair tax. I knocked on the door, introduced myself to an elderly woman who lived in a small house. I asked her if she had a minute and when she said yes I gave her a quick pitch about the fair tax. Since she was an elder I made my emphasis on the fair tax benefits on social security, medicare, and prices whichwere probobly the fields that affect her the most. There was a moment where she interupted me and said "I live on my social security." My heart may have stopped, but my mouth didn't.

I told her that under the fair tax, she will in effect not pay taxes and will get to keep 100% of her social security check that she receives every month from the federal government. She lit up! She asked for more information and I gave her information about the fair tax nation, what we do and how we are going to get this thing passed. I also handed her a letter about the fair tax that she can send to her congressman. We shook hands and I left.

Then I got to thinking. If I was only able to inspire 5 people to become fair tax supporters a week and each one of those five inspired 5 more that would give the fair tax 25 supporters a week, and over 1300 a year! Thats just the start. The 25 could then find 5 more a week. Thats 100 a week and over 5200 a year. All this from an individual choice to make a difference and be involved. I know that I don't have to name the difference makers of previous generations that were the most unlikely to do so, but I am going to any way. Rosa parks refused to give up her seat on the bus and that action became a rally cry for civil rights. Martin Luthor King jr. was just a small town pastor, and one day he stood at the steps of the lIncoln memorial and uttered the words "I have a dream."

Do we dare to dream? Dare to dream that if we work hard enough and put forth our best efforts, we can turn this country around? Do we dare to believe that one individual can make a difference? Ford once said "Whether you believe that you can do something or whether you believe you can't, you are absolutely right." What will you choose?
