Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

A while ago, I suggested that FairTax begin to plan, (or at least say something to us low-level workers) about the plans for reintroducing the bill to the 112th Congress in January.  Two years ago, there was no discussion, and we ended up losing the HR25/S25 designator, messing up all the printed materials and banners.  MY IDEA for this coming Congress, is to go for HR20/S12 making it say that we're ready to push for "FairTax 2012".  I thought it was boffo,  just like the push to double the co-Sponsor list by May Day (5/1/11)  I think that I saw two positive replies when posted on the DD, then the thread died.  No response from AFFT, and-- may I assume that no one is interested in this type of planning?  I'm beginning to feel a bit like a mushroom.  (keep it in the dark, and feed it ____)  Not to be offensive, but, we've got to work TOGETHER, so people get the idea that their work is necessary, and their contributions counted, or the ones who do the work and provide the cash, are going to take leave!

They will be introduced as HR 25 and S25.
I'm guessing, you KNOW something??? I can't get that out of Houston. If it's your preference, try to make your case; WHY HR25, other than "we've always done that". If it's my idea is poor, discuss that. Which inspires people to action, and what other options can we come up with? I have disdain for a mentality of FairTax on autopilot, when the opposition is well funded, well entrenched, and has a carefully crafted plan to soft-soap Americans into more "progressive income tax, and making them THINK it's tax reform. If someone like Houston doesn't step up and LEAD, I'll try to do what I can to show the way. But I will NOT sit around and wait for ---whatever!
I definately think the FAIR TAX IS gaining momentum;
BUT I'm not sure that "working together" is the answer either. Now, don't get me wrong....Cooperation and sharing of ideas, etc is always beneficial. But, working together (to me) implies doing the "same things" in the same locales. Each of us face different obstacles in getting support for the FAIR TAX....and so, I would be the first to say that .....what works for me, may not work for you in your District or....?

Instead, let's share ideas!!!
I, for one, have found that most supporters are not following this website and/or contributing as I think they should be.

Additionally, I believe there are a number of common MISCONCEPTIONS our opponents have repeatedly made ....that we do not seem to combat forcefully enough!
I see interview after interview where advocates have NOT mentioned the following important points!!

Example 1: the common opposition that the Fair Tax does not "guarantee" a repeal of the 16th !! We need to SPECIFICALLY address this, not just say we must wait for a repeal of the 16th to be ratified. People don't trust that approach! We MUST not let them think we will have BOTH Income & NST !!

Example 2: a better explanation of the "PREBATE"; unfortunately many Americans (especially kids & seniors) can't follow the math that well.....it often is explained poorly and comes out sounding like just another "entitlement" check.
You know, "just more spending".... We need to do better.

Example 3: most folks still don't understand the HUGE impact this will have on businesses and the re-investment of businesses back here in the U.S. once again....thereby bringing more jobs back!! This is one of (if not the biggest) JOBS plan which can be introduced....and too few polticians have used it as a specific for their platforms!.....Tis a shame! Lowering of business expense and the ability for the Free Market to play out will also LOWER PRICES....is a spin-off of this as well.

Example 4: AND THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST ONE !!!!
Few have pushed the fact that this Bill would bring greater "Fairness" in the sense of its EXPANDED TAX BASE!!! Just think of illegals, criminals, tax dodgers & others of all sorts
now PAYING THEIR SHARE !!?? We need to use this pure and simple fact MORE! We need to point more to the fact that fewer than 50% of Americans are Taxpayers!!
(Between loopholes, exemptions, and other non-filers)

YES, we all know these things.....but I don't believe the public is getting them very well!
THAT'S WHERE AND WHAT WE SHOULD EMPHASIZE FOR 2011 !!!!
We know we should certainly get more Congressional sponsors....that's a NO-Brainer!!
Bernie; I just proposed that SOMEONE discuss the merits of a "slogan" for 2012-2012 ("FairTax in 2012" --HR20/S12) to get things moving. HR25/S296 and the old S1025, and the older S25, HAVE NO MEANING. We're just doing things the same old way, because we've ALWAYS done it that way FOR 15 YEARS! "Working together (TO ME) means that the people who work in the trenches, using their own time, money, and creativity, get to have some input to the Houston oligarchy who masquerades like this is a grassroots effort. Instead, they waste what little money they get on one time TV broadcasts on a channel that is almost not on cable systems, ON JULY 4th !!! The rest goes to saleries. No wonder no one gives very much to Houston! it's clear, that they're going to do little to movethis until the billionaires come back to Capistrano. They may never come back!

Ideas from the little people are not welcome, and they don't even give an answer. People like YOU are the soul of Fairtax, but THEY control the movement, making it take another 15 years to do something.

I DO NOT take orders from HEADQUARTERS. This is the same top down krap we get from our government. If you have a tea party, they make you into Astro-turf racists. I BEGGED Houston to align itself with the tea parties early-on, but they refused, and so now we're in second place to the FLATTERY TAX!

You have good ideas. But if they are cavalierishly dismissed with a proposal to do nothing, howz that make YOU feel? FairTaxers throughout the nation are RE-uniting under different groups to get things done because Houston is chasing people away at light speed. This is a self-destruct mechanism, BUT they own the "service mark" logo/name --NOT US!

WHO is taking FairTax to CPAC? The grassroots is. Houston barely will mention a part of it till just recently, just to collect up all the glory.
I am still hopefull that 2011 can see some real progress in getting the Fairtax passed. I have always felt the AFFT is lax in promoting it as they should. After all, it was established by MILLIONAIRES that could have had some national ads that would raise public awareness. Even though we send folks to the fairtax web site it is not kept up to date. Right now it is still featuring Mike Huckabee's challenge and the letters Mr. Limbeck sent before the election. Surely there is more helpfull information that they could be presenting. I agree the grassroots can only do so much. The AFFT needs to step it up if we are to see this happen. For example, the "Lunch with the Fairtax" videos could be used to good advantage.
I think you are on the right track. I was in the process of writing a similar recommendation when I began reading this theme.

Seem to me that it is best to stay with the H.R. 25 / S. 25 numbers if possible. No offense to the proposal of 20 /12. I am not sure the general public, which we are trying to reach, would get the significance of those numbers, and we keep the early, familiar designations.
> It could become 2-25s in 2012. The key now is to get ourselves the attention of Congressmen Boehner and Camp. They are key players. As Hank says above the Republicans had Congress and the Oval Office for years, but now with the deficit scare they will look at solutions. It's time for FairTax to look good.
Jobs, Jobs, Jobs, the 2-25's and you'll have to hide under your bed to keep from getting a Job.
Over the next couple or three or four years we are as close as we will ever be to passing the FAIRTAX but if we do not educate the public I feel we will be doomed. If it starts to look like it has a chance the moveon.orgs and the ACIU's and the like will organize their crowds and make more noise in opposition with their lies. If the public has the facts ahead of time they will not be influenced by the lies. If the people demand that we abolish the 16th Ammendment, it will happen. Flyers on windshields at the Malls, there will be many people there over the next few weeks.
The reason I say we are as close as we will ever be, is because of the economy, which will not get any better to speak of because our government is taking all the money out of the system. All of us together make $12trillion dollars, that's the total combined income of all citizens, and our federal government spent over $5trillion dollars per year the past 2 years. That leaves us $7trillion dollars to pay for our state and local governments and buy our food and clothes and pay our light bill. Rome fell and the USA will to if we don't stop these idiot politicians from sucking the gas tank dry. The people right now are looking for answers you can see it in their faces. We have the ANSWER and it's up to us who know the FAIRTAX to educate our neighbors and when there is enough people demanding the FAIRTAX it will come to pass.
I thought that would be obvious to anyone who understands the Fairtax. $5trillion is double what the federal government takes in taxes each year. Under the 16th Ammendment, they can double your taxes and there is not a d--- thing you can do about it. And half the country ain't gonna care about your pain cause they don't pay taxes anyway. But you let them try to double the consumption tax up to 46 cents in every dollar, when all 300 million citizens have skin in the game, I don't think that will work so good for them.
The Fairtax replaces the way we fund our government, but at the same time it will show the citizens and the politicians how much it cost every time they buy a loaf of bread. A little more diligence will be shown at that point I think.
Of course they will have skin in the game, after they cash that prebate check it is their money to spend anyway they want, thus "skin in the game." Alot of those 45 million people paid SS taxes, income taxes is what they did not pay. As for 23%/30% that's just showing you what your heros have been spending, it is not a negative to the Fairtax, whether you call it 23% inclusive (which is how income tax rates are called out) or 30% exclusive, all that tells you is how much these idiots have been spending in the past.
What have you got against prosperity in America?
