Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Who Is The Fair Tax Constituency?

We (including I) have advocated for promoting the Fair Tax among both liberals and conservatives.  The argument is that we need "both" to get the Fair Tax passed.  Do we?  And who is the constituency of the Fair Tax?

I am reading the wonderful book Why Not Freedom: America's Revolt Against Big Government by James Ronald Kennedy and Walter Donald Kennedy.

The "players" (Parties to the conflict) in this drama (per Kennedy and Kennedy) include the political parties.  Of these, the Democrats want to grow government and protect people with "special rights" granted by the government (not the creator), and the Republicans want to protect special privileges of the rich.  These include tax loopholes  Please read the book if this bothers you, since I have not enough space or time to fully elaborate.  The middle class is also a player in the conflict, and given "lip service" by both parties.  But "what they do" (not what they say) is to disregard that "interest group".

But that "interest group" (the middle class) IS (70 % of) America.  They typically live based on payment for their labor, or retirement saved during their labor.  The middle class is the "cash cow" that Democrats REALLY want to pay for big government redistribution schemes and Republicans REALLY want to pay for wars and other benefits to big business.  But Republicans also (with what they DO) also attack the middle class to buy votes ("the last vote", read Kennedy) since otherwise the Democrats would win.  And Democrats have their own big business cronies to receive payments and regulation help (to put competitors of big business out of business).

Both Republicans and Democrats play the game of "slicing the (vote) pie" and keeping control (power).  The piece written by Jordan Williamson about tax brackets dividing is appropriate:

"We must either submit to the control of Washington as to the amount of money they will allow us to keep. Or we must press on. There are no tax brackets in a FairTax system. When the tax is raised on one it is raised on all. For the first time in nearly a century the political class will be unable to slip a tax increase past the watch of the average American citizen. We will finally be able to hold our elected officials accountable without arguing over how much Warren Buffet pays his secretary, which is none of our business in the first place."

The Fair Tax is an American thing.  The problem is that America is run by too many PARTY MEMBERS where those parties want special favors for their own folks.  We need a way for the majority, the "real voice" of America to be heard.  The parties will not proclaim this desire.

How shall we do that?  I need to go.  I have some answers, but many questions.  May we "discuss" it here and arrive at an approach to win back our nation to sanity and again be the "United States" as Jordan Williamson pointed out with such insight in his full discourse that we "claim" to be (and were).  Not divided along gerrymandered special interest lines by the political parties.

The American Middle class, the "cash cow" both parties look to as the ACTUAL big tax base source is beset by these:

1) Labor is declining as % of GDP / capita.  It is less of the economy.  The middle class has relied on wages to live. This is not working as well since technology enables society to produce the goods & services people buy with fewer workers.

See the attached file.

We all increasingly need to own capital, just to live (since capital is growing as a GDP input, land and labor shrinking).

2) The US is no longer the "main" place where economic liberty and opportunity resides (to put it mildly, since we are working hard to destroy what liberty we had). The US middle class worker has competition from free workers globally.

3) The parties, as outlined in Why Not Freedom (Kennedy and Kennedy) have been milking the middle class for the benefit of their "high end" and "low end" constituencies.

So, this cash cow is beset by this damage to their ability to be taxed and even to live. We need all Americans to be all Americans again, not rivals fighting over who gets what scraps.  The Fair Tax puts all on an equal opportunity footing.
