In an article at American Thinker.com titled The Outsource Corporate Headquarters Act of 2009 the authors suggest replacing the federal income tax code with one of two consumption based taxes. One is The Fair Tax. The other is a VAT. It may help to post a comment explaining why The Fair Tax is preferable to a VAT.
> The Richmans are great supporters of the FairTax. They have written a very informative book about the economic problems facing the U.S. It is called "Trading Away Our Future" and is a must read for FairTaxers.
As I finished the article, I checked out the book you refer to. I was wondering if it was good and from the reviews I read, it does, indeed, look like something I need to read.
Frankly, I don't understand at all how anyone could equate the value of the Fair Tax with VAT. A VAT is regressive and imposes taxes everywhere it can; smacks to much of income and withholding taxes. They just add and sneak more in here and there.
