Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

We're launching the GFR Pledge Program. The Grass Roots Freedom Ride is offering a Pledge Program for all State and Local FairTax Groups to raise funds. Not only can your group raise needed funds, our Pledge Program offers a way to introduce FairTax to your community in a low key manner! The cost of an event and materials may be prohibitive. With this program, every individual in your group can introduce FairTax and collect funds at work, school, other events and meetings... any where there are people!

Our program is set up like a walkathon. We'll send you a sign up sheet and information on the Grass Roots Freedom Ride to distribute in your community. Pledges vary with each ride depending on distance and amount pledged per mile. No matter where the ride is taking place, your group can raise funds for that event. Here's how it works -

1. Sign up for the Pledge Program at www.grassrootsfreedomride.com/pledgeprogram and choose a specific ride your group wants to sponsor.

2. You'll receive an electronic sign up sheet and information to distribute.

3. As you collect pledges, enter them at http://www.grassrootsfreedomride.com/grassrootsfreedomridepledges

4. Collect cash and check pledges - most donors will pay when they pledge. Send checks to : Russell Sockwell, NC FairTax, PO Box 669, McLeansville, NC 27301 Direct credit card and Paypal pledgers to www.grassrootsfreedomride.com to complete their pledge.

5. We'll send out a thank you letter for you when the pledge is received.

6. 2 - 3 weeks after the ride, you will receive 25% of the funds you raised. We are in the process of forming a supply shop to buy materials in bulk for the best price around. If you would like to receive supplies, you can use your funds towards materials. Contact us at that time for a list of available materials and prices.

Where does the rest of your pledge money go? As explained on our website, our organization's goal is to fund the entire grass roots movement - not just at the individual local level, but nation wide. GFR funds are held in NC, but through a consortium of State Directors, these funds will go towards individual FT groups and projects that will move the entire movement forward, as well as establishing a supply center where even small groups can purchase their promotional materials at bulk prices. Your fund raising effort benefits not just your group, or your state, but the entire movement. Every FairTax supporter with vision can see the benefit of this program for everyone.

Other reasons to support GFR!

* Bike rallies are visible and audible!
* Bike rallies are fun!
* Event support -What we learn, we will pass on to you
* Help create a central supply store for FairTax materials
* Bulk prices for supplies - Make your funds go further by getting bulk pricing, even for small orders
* Fund raising without the expense of an event - even when the bike rally is in another state, you can raise local funds!
* Intrinsic community Outreach - As you ask for a pledge, you promote FairTax!
* Support for the FairTax Grass Roots Movement nationwide
* No calendars, magazines, wrapping paper, no inventory
* Receive a GFR die cast pin for your donation over $25; a FairTax die cast Pin is offered for donations over $50 (at this time, only applies to pledges collected through the Pledge Program to motivate your group and your pledgers!)

This program is subject to change based on success - we want to increase the amount that returns to your group. Let's get this launched!

I think you will need to give back 75% to the groups that participate if you are going to get riders and contributers. You could charge for the printed material if they agree that they need it. Good luck. Just one persons opinion. I think it is a great idea.
As posted on our About Us page on our site, the goal is 80%. Right now, after the cost of the paint job, website, and miscellaneous printing and other costs, we just spent another 1K on flags, $800 on awards for participating bikers, $500 on brochures. We 're getting some help for these expenses from supporters. So far, we've had a good amount of pledges that don't benefit any particular group. We really want to support those who support us. The goal is to promote FairTax in whatever way we can... without going broke, of course!

Please read about how we're set up... I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
O,K. I'm sorry. Good luck.
Don't be sorry. If you misunderstood it, I'm sure others did too and I really do appreciate the feedback!

I hope we'll see you on one of our excursions! Our first ride is in a few weeks - hopefully we'll have warmer weather!
What makes you think that you are supposed, to be raising funds from the rest of the local, and State organizations, toward your own, not the National AFFT group, goals.
Any grass roots group that wants to be involved can be... a simple invitation to use GFR for their own benefit, whether to open a conversation, or ask for a donation that is simple. We're not raising funds "from" any established group... we're seeking to broaden the base. Along with our fund raising component is a large outreach program.

Since our start up costs are pretty outrageous, we thought some current FairTax supporters could assist with this effort. I certainly didn't expect this kind of reaction.

If we want FairTax, we cannot continue to think that by contributing to any one state it'll happen. If 100% in GA wants it, but no one in WY, AR, KS, MO... we lose. It's a broader picture that includes the whole country. So GFR will tour the whole country, have some fun, hopefully be able to help promote the FairTax and strengthen support in areas that don't have Boortz on the radio. We'd like some help towards these goals. If it's not for you or your group, just wave as we go by. We're on the same team. If we raise funds and they're needed where you are, that's where they'll go. We don't control the distribution. (see website page "about us")

To this day, we have gotten zero assistance from the national organization, other than the ability to use the logo, which they give to all supporters. They supply the research and the lobbying, but don't lead the grass roots efforts. I don't believe we'll get anywhere without widespread understanding and acceptance. So first we'll work on knowledge, which in our neck of the woods (and most in the country) needs to happen. The majority of people I talk to have never heard of the FairTax, or think it's the Flat Tax. There is plenty to be done before I'll get involved in any type of infighting. It's counter productive. I hope you'll agree with me on that. If this isn't for you, just ignore us and do your own thing.

What makes you think I shouldn't be doing something? I hate to ask it that way, because it's very confrontational, but it's the question you asked me. As a grass roots movement I don't need to ask for "permission" to do what I believe is my part, and neither do you need my permission. It's the same kind of individual freedom implicit in the FairTax... we each do our own thing, and don't participate with others if we don't want to. If GFR doesn't have your support, I'm sure as a FairTax supporter, you are working diligently on your own projects. Either way, we'll both put in financially far more than we'll ever gain, unless we win passage of the FairTax.

I'm hoping that this site can give us all a bigger perspective .... all our efforts are for nothing if we are not united.

Please read about how our organization is set up, who's involved, our mission statement and if you have ideas to make it better, I really would like to hear them. I don't think it needs to be on a public forum, but if that's where you operate, I'll met you there.
