Fair Tax Nation

Replace All Federal Taxes on Income with the Fair Tax Act , HR 25

Everybody,

I would like to thank Doug Hartlove, our DD for NJ-11, for undertaking this time-consuming but necessary project of identifying Congressional districts where the FairTax had co-sponsors in the 110th Congress - but where it has none in this, the 111th, Congress.

I plan to contact directly the RD's and the SD's, where we have them, of the districts that Doug has identified. But I think it is worthwhile sharing the product of Doug's work with the entire FairTax_DD Yahoo Group and with the FairTaxNation group. I would like to encourage each of you to review this list and get a head start in speaking to your RD, SD and DD where action is appropriate.

Mr. Hank VanG on the FairTaxBlog.com group offered me a ten-dollar bet that we would not reach the same number of co-sponsors in this Congress that we had last time. Mr. Van says the FairTax is starting to ebb. Don't worry about my ten dollars. Just give me the satisfaction of calling Mr. Van with what, to him, will be "bad news!" Our best years are still ahead of us.

~Jim

Subject: HR 25 List Review

Hi Jim,

I finished the subject review.  I compared co-sponsors of the 2007 bill to the current list on the website.  I also paid attention to districts that had co-sponsors that no longer have them now - people in such districts may be knowledgeable & that may help get us reinstated.

As we discussed we will get the best results of this review if you direct the appropriate info to the most reliable person to find our what happened.  From this point on this type of review should be SOP by each Regional Director, State Director, & most certainly each DD who loses a cosponsor for whatever reason.  Doug

A.  Flake & Inhofe are already in progress.

1.  Jo Ann Davis died & was replaced by Robert Wittman who is a co-sponsor so VA 1 is solid.

2.  Hastert Il 14 replaced by Bill Foster (D) who is not co-sponsor.  We should find out more from Il FT rep if this district is in play.

3.  Tancredo was replaced in CO 6 by Maichael (SP?) Coffman who is not a co-sponsor so we have some work to do there.

4.  Jerry Lewis Cal 41 has dropped his listing as co-sponsor so Bill Spillane should let us know about Lewis.

5.  Cynthia Lummis - WY at large - replaced Barbara Cubin who had been a co-sponsor.  Lummis is not so we have some work here.

6.  Suzanne Kosmas - FL 24 replaced Tom Feeney who had been co-sponsor.  Should check on district solidarity - in Neal's listening area.

7.  Steven Pearce - NM 2 - was co-sponsor & was replaced by Harry Teague (D) who is not.  Should check to see what gives in the district.

8.  Gus Bilirakis is no longer a co-sponsor in FL 9 - Neal listening area.  This is a good one to find out what happened.

9.  Glenn Nye (D) has not signed on after replacing Thelma Drake who had been a co-sponsor in VA 2.

10.  Frank Kratovil (D) has not signed on after replacing Wayne Gilchrest who had been a co-sponsor in MD 1.

11.  Tom Perriello (D) has not signed on after replacing Virgil Goode who had been a co-sponsor in VA 5.

12.  Duncan Hunter retired after being a co=sponsor.  Replaced by Duncan D. Hunter who has not signed on in Cal 52 - may be his son?

13.  Alan Grayson (D) has not signed on & is listed as against in FL 8.  Replaced Ric Keller who had been a co-sponsor.

14.  Paul Broun replaced Charles Norwood in GA 10.  Both are/were co-sponsors.  This is the way it should work.

15.  Mark Schauer (D) has not signed on & replaced Timothy Walberg who had been a co-sponsor in MI 7.

16.  Bill Posey replaced Dave Weldon in Fl 15.  Both are/were co-sponsors.  Another good one.

3 of the 6 candidates running for VA-02 have soft support for the FairTax but have fallen short of promising to co-sponsor. My buddies back home are still working on them. I would say the strongest would be Ben Loyola, but I no longer live in the district.
> You missed one, Tom McClintock CA4 replaced John Doolittle who was a co-sponsor. Rep. McClintock wants lower taxes but I have called to no avail. Duncan Hunter is indeed the son of former co-sponsor Duncan Hunter. It seems he concerns himself with other issues.
Florida district 24 (#6) has 9 Republicans in the primary, Most say they support the Fair Tax, but only one has made it his platform (Deon Long).

Florida district 8 (#13) also has 10 Republicans in the primary. Most say they support the Fair Tax, but only two advocate the Fair Tax on their website. (Todd Long and Prince Brown)

Our local Fair Tax Group is working on all the candidates running for these two seats including the Democrats and Independents for their advocating the Fair Tax. We do not accept "I am for tax reform" as an answer.
