A devastating blow

Much to my surprise the Chippewa Valley lost their most vocal and public supporter of the FairTax this week. It has come to my attention that the local radio station carrying Neal Boortz has cut the Boortz show from the lineup. To me this was devastating news. Mr. Boortz almost single handily drew me into the talk radio format. Beyond that if it were not for Boortz I would have no idea about the FairTax and its merits. Tea party

Ok I was at the EC Tea Party today. It was the first time I have ever participated in such an event. It appeared as though I was not the only protest virgin in the crowd. A crowd that was heavily conservative, a demographic that can be real hard to organize. Today they got over their individualistic tendencies to collectively display their displeasure in the massive surge in government spending over the past six months. John Linder speech

Today I gave my John Linder speech in my speech class. It was OK but I have work to be done on my speaking ability. We were assigned to do a special occasion speech featuring a public figure. Most of my classmates are giving satire type speeches on fictional characters featured in the mass media. - Matt, At this point we will probably need you at the Eau Claire post office. i am going to try to be set up at 11AM. There is a TEA party going on at noon with a march from city hall to R Kinds office and then the post office. I need to be at the City Hall for that to sell t-shirts and buttons and give them FairTax signs. You will be getting an e-mail of the meeting minutes this week and our plan for the post office. It might have been the person from Liberty Tax Service. I think they have an office on the dead end there. I meet them last year,and we talked about the fair tax.When we finished our conversation the handed me their card. It said Liberty Tax Service.

- Matt, Yes, we will present to any group that wants to listen. As for collection- the States already collect sales taxes (most do) so they would not have to form a new department, just add staff. They would collect it and pass it on to the Feds. The states would be reimbursed 1/4% of what they collect as a fee for collecting the taxes. Are you going to be around this weekend if we get a booth space at the Home Show?

Dave Sibole said… - Congrats on the speech. Young people are the ones that will benefit most by the Fair Tax but most are too involved with other stuff to get informed or be active. But glad there are some of you. Keep up the good work. It really doesn't take a lot of time to find opportunities. It is just a matter of seizing them.
