Perhaps there is more value in writing to the existing co-sponsors of the legislation and giving them good cause to speak to our representatives on our behalf.

Yeah Marty that is exactly the same as the letter I received. Its obvious now that they are nothing but form letters sent to anyone who sends anything about the Fair Tax. I doubt he knows or cares about the Fair Tax, that he read any of our E-Mails but simply has his "staff" put the names on letters and stuff them in envelopes for him.

Now we know that he is getting closer. He needs to be reminded that he does not have to do research, it has been done to the tune of $20million.

Here is Sanator Burr's response to question of where he stood on the FairTax proposal.

Dear Mr. Genzlinger:

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me on the Fair Tax proposal. I appreciate hearing from you on this issue.

I believe that our tax code is in dire need of reform and simplification, and I look forward to working with my colleagues in the United States Senate to obtain a better understanding of our current tax system stem and proposals for tax reform.

The Fair Tax proposal, originally introduced by Congressman John Linder in 2005, would repeal the income tax, employment tax, and estate and gift tax. In return, this proposal would create a national sales tax on taxable property and services. The initial rate for the sales tax would be set at 23 percent in 2011 and would be adjusted for subsequent years. Exemptions from the sales tax would be made for property and services purchased for business, export, and investment purposes.

While I am inclined to support the replacement of our current tax code with a proposal such as the Fair Tax,, I must first evaluate the impact of any new tax system on our nation's economy before endorsing any proposal. As a Member of the U.S. House of Representatives. I cosponsored the "Date Certain Tax Code Replacement Act," which would have repealed the Internal Revenue Code and established a national commission to study alternative tax systems and report to Congress the strengths and weaknesses of each system. I believe our tax system and potential alternatives must be closely examined before any changes are made to ensure a successful transition to the simplest and fairest tax code.

Again, thank you for contacting me with your concerns. I assure you that I will keep your thoughts in mind as the Fair Tax or any related legislation is presented in the Senate. If I can be of further assistance, please do not hesitate to call upon me or to visit my website at http://burr.senate.gov.

Sincerely.
Richard Burr
United States Senator

Hi I guess I'm the new guy here, Ive written our representatives in Washington twice so far and have received only 3 replies, two from the same person (Burr). None seem to be interested in supporting let alone promoting the Fair Tax. I want to do more! What we are fighting in Washington is culture of the inner beltway, the power and prestige of office, and possibly the agenda of corruption. We have only one tool to bring to bear on the lawmakers, their job. We must through numbers of very vocal and insistent constituents make it clear that the position they hold rests on whether the Fair Tax is adopted or not. I want to do more to make sure this happens because I believe that for this nation to survive in the future, and for it to be defended from economic disasters and attacks, we must have the Fair Tax. I have turned here for guidance. I don't have much to offer but my time and effort but what I have is yours.

Hello - My name is Karen Valiquett, and I helped to start Cape Fear Fair Tax last August. We have about 250 people on our email list, and about 20 active members. I'd love it if we could coordinate a bit with the state effort. We have a blog website at www.capefearfairtax.com as well, so check it out!

We'll keep working on it. Maybe we will be able to shock and awe everyone with some diligent efforts!

You folks in NC are doing really good! You are the only state nearing 200 aready. Even GA only has 122 members!

Keep up the great work. I am betting you will be one of the first or the first state with 1,000 members on FairTax Nation.
