Our position at the Cincinnati
Tea Party is that the debt ceiling should not be raised without inclusion of real and significant spending cuts. Our current fiscal path is accelerating towards the cliff. This is one of the last chances we have to apply the brakes before falling off the edge.
If you agree, we have two main ways to help. The first is a rally for Speaker Boehner.
When: July 25, 2011, 4:30pm - 5:00pm
Where: Outside the office of Speaker Boehner
7969 Cincinnati-Dayton Road
West Chester, OH 45069
Purpose: Deliver personal letters to Boehner's staff and encourage him to continue to stand strong in negotiations with Obama and the Senate
Please understand, this is not a protest. Boehner has been strong in negotiations so far and we want to encourage him to stay strong until the end.
If you cannot make the rally in person (understandably with the short notice), Anderson leader Sue Hardenbergh is collecting letters that she will deliver on your behalf. Please email letters to her at sue.hardenbergh@communityteaparty.org by noon on Monday. Letters do not have to be long or detailed. A short message encouraging him to cut spending is sufficient.
(Please wear FairTax gear if you can attend. Let Speaker Boehner know we want FAIRTAX passed.)
Rob Portman's response was basically telling ME what the FairTax is and what needs to be done:
"The Fair Tax Act of 2011 repeals the income tax, employment tax, and estate and gift tax. ... It was referred to the Senate Committee on Finance, of which I am not a member.
I agree that the current tax code is broken and needs to be reformed. ... Simplifying and reforming the tax code is a necessary step to lighten the burden on taxpayers and create incentives for our entrepreneurs to invest in the future, innovate and grow. ..."
I spoke to NEAL BORTZ about him going to the way an means. Bortz said he would, but he and his wife where out of town.Bortz also belives that the meeting could be push back because of the budget {#@!%} going on . I asked his listeners to call their reps and c-span , and to bug the hell out of them Bortz added as they 've bug the hell out of us. It would be great if Neal Bortz would go to the way an means meeting
I was able to get thru to Mitch McCon.. office (202-224-2541) this morning. The lady I talked to said the PLAN was not his first choice, but he is apposed to raising taxes and he did not want the Country to default; so he came up with this proposal. She said it was the only plan in writing.
Then I ask her about the Ways & Means for FairTax on 7/26/11 and she said she was not aware of the FairTax or the meeting; but she will look into it.
Calling all FairTax Faithful:
As most of you are aware we have shifted into overdrive in our planning and preparation for the Iowa Straw Poll. The dates are August 11th – 13th in Ames, Iowa on the beautiful campus of Iowa State University (my alma mater). The schedule of events stands as follows:
August 11th
Afternoon - FairTax tailgate with FairTax Nation, The Sons of Liberty Riders and hopefully Congressman Steve King (IA)
Evening - Republican Presidential candidate debate in Hilton Coliseum (tickets required – contact me)
August 12th
Morning and Afternoon - Setup and preparation - Media Blitz
Evening - FairTax Social and Planning meeting
August 13th
Morning and Afternoon - Iowa Straw Poll - Hilton Coliseum (tickets $30 – contact me)
Evening - Tear down and pack up

Crowds in excess of 10,000 attendees and over 1,000 media are expected. This is a big deal and the opportunity of the summer to build the FairTax brand and share the benefits of HR 25 with thousands.
We need your help!
· We need volunteers. The more the merrier!
· We need supplies….hats, fans, stickers, push cards….whatever you can spare.
· We need money. A series of emails is starting to go out from Houston, please be generous. We have created a budget in conjunction with the FAST committee and board,
Please contact me if you are planning to come to Ames or if you have some supplies you can contribute. Thanks for all your efforts and I hope to meet many of you in Ames in August.

There are a limited number of hotel rooms left in Ames so please reserve as soon as you are able.
Here is Jean Schmidt's email response:
"High tax rates and a tax code which is riddled with inefficiencies are stifling job creation and economic growth. The IRS estimates that Americans spend 6.6 billion hours every year filing their taxes. This is completely unacceptable and is why comprehensive tax reform -- something I strongly support -- is one of House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Camp’s top priorities. I am hopeful that the House Ways and Means Committee is able to send a bill to the full House for consideration. I will certainly be mindful of your support for the Fair Tax proposal should I have the opportunity to vote on related legislation."
