Bravo! Never underestimate the power of a few passionate people! Just heard from Robert L. Scott, U.D. law student who set up the Dayton, Ohio Tea Party that we were the 5th largest Tea Party in America on April 15. That caught Sean Hannity's attention and he wants some Ohio Fair Tax speakers to come out and wow the crowd before his Freedom Concert in Cincinnati, Ohio at King's Island on Fri. August 21st. Is Steve Curtis, our Ohio Fair Tax State Director up to the job? We need someone with public speaking training and a color message to stand up for the FairTax and get national attention with those Fox News cameras!

Ohio Sovereignty - 2nd hearing in Senate Committee this Tuesday June 23rd

Back to Ohio State Action Group Discussions
SCR-13 is scheduled to be heard on Tuesday, June 23rd by the Senate State & Local Government & Veterans Affairs Committee. This will be the second hearing in the last two weeks, so things are moving very quickly. This time, the committee will allow proponent testimony, and public testimony will be allowed!

Ohio State House
77 S. High St., Columbus, OH 43215
South Hearing Rm., 10:00 am

Please contact members of the committee here and request their support of SCR-13, or you may use SLAM or State Liberty Action Mailer here. If you can make it to Columbus, your support is greatly needed! And if you wish to testify, all the better!

SPREAD THE WORD!!

WHAT TO KNOW:

1. If giving a testimony, please BRING 3O COPIES for the committee members.

2. Be sure to sign your name when you arrive and indicate whether you intend to testify. Sign-up sheets are available at all meetings.

3. The Chairman will announce when a particular bill is coming before the committee for discussion. The bill's sponsor is usually the first to speak. After his testimony, the Chairman then may ask for testimony from proponents and opponents.

4. All testimony and committee discussion must be addressed through the Chairman.

5. Begin your testimony by addressing the Chairman and committee members. State your name, address, and why you are there. For example: "Mr. Chairman Hughes, members of the Committee, my name is Pat Q. Public and I'm from Columbus. I am in favor of this bill because...."

6. Be courteous and brief in your language and address. Try not to repeat testimony offered by previous witnesses. Be prepared to answer questions. Respond to the questions as best you can. You need not be embarrassed if you do not have a specific answer.

7. Do not be nervous as there is no right or wrong way to testify. Legislators are your friends and neighbors elected to represent you -- they want to hear what you have to say.

8. Demonstrations, applause, or addressing committee members or other witnesses in the audience are prohibited.

Hi folks,

Just wanted to give everyone an update on some meetings we have attended lately in our area.
1. Last Monday, several FairTaxers including our state director attended the Greene County Republican luncheon. There were about 80 poeple who showed up and a presentation was given by state party leader Kevin DeWine with a Q & A that followed. Not only did we get to ask a FairTax question, but we were also able to get Mr. DeWine after the meeting and talk to him more about the FairTax. Also, I will be giving a presentation at the next Greene County Republican luncheon, so wish me success.
2. We had our Fairborn monthly meeting last night at Roush's Restaurant. Barbara Wilson gave us an update on how the Missouri FairTax event went and gave some details on FairTax products available to purchase. We also had 2 new visitors and one of our local council people has been attending our meetings regularly. We also discussed the county republican luncheon, Congressman Austria's lack of suport vs. a statement he made recently, our future presentations to be given at the luncheon and for the Young Republicans group tentively scheduled for Sept. followed by a Q & A. Our next meeting is scheduled for July 16th at Roush's.

Lastly, although our last letter didn't make the paper, the Fairborn Daily Herald has been great about printing letters to the editor. I would encourage each and everyone to write letters to the editor of your local newspapers to help promote and educate the newspaper readers as to the merits of the FairTax. You might get a debate going with someone as we did that got us a lot of exposure.

Keep up the good fight, Frank Gilbert

We have a request for a speaker at a 912 event in Elyria this weekend. If someone would like to volunteer, it's a good opportunity to spread the FairTax word. Please let me know by Thurs evening so I can get back to the meeting coordinator.

Here is my reply to Steamboatskibum.

I've decided your letter was just a ploy to get attention so I'll feed your ego with a response. Few are really so stupid as to not see the benefits of the Fair Tax. So I'll assume you have taken the position you have because you are benefitting from the current monstor somehow. However in the future please don't take us for being stupid enough to believe you were ever really a supporter and have defected.

My wife and I have written Sen Brown several times- Drilling, gasolene, Unions,Card check, etc. His response has always been the same. He knows it all and facts will not confuse him..He is strictly party line, and has no intention of considering input or representing us....I've met several like him - One told me once that he "knew what was best for HIS people"

The http://www.factcheck.org/taxes/unspinning_the_fairtax.html isn't enirely off base. The question back the Sherrod Brown's office is... The FairTax is a simple replacement for income, payroll, and death taxes... are you telling me it actually costs more than that?????? What is the real cost then???
