The simple fact is that FactCheck doesn't always get it right, or, as in this case, they place a greater emphasis on some elements, and discount other, in my opinion, more important issues.

First, the argument about inclusive or exclusive is semantic. Either way, the same amount of tax is paid on a purchase. The real question is whether or not the price of goods would be lowered so as to hold the price after implementation of the FairTax to roughly the same level as now. The research I have done convinces me that, when combined with getting your whole paycheck, consumers would be able to purchase at least as much then as now. In other words, the FairTax would change the manner in which taxes are collected, but we'd all still be, collectively, paying the same amount for the same goods.

So too with their dismissal of the prebate as “too expensive”. The prebate is already included in the amount of money that has to be collected in order to make the FairTax “revenue-neutral”, so there is no “added costs” associated with it. This is a spurious argument, particularly when coming from a Washington bureaucracy that is spending trillions of dollars without even reading the legislation.

Obviously Senator Brown’s office wasn’t at our meeting with one of his staffers a couple of weeks ago, or they have already discounted the information presented to them then.

It is unlikely that someone like Brown, with his belief in the infallibility of big government, and his apparent belief that “he knows better”, will ever embrace the FairTax since it runs counter to his desires to build a culture of dependency and grow his political power through manipulation of the tax code. My advice to you is to simply inform Brown’s office that if he decides the FairTax isn’t sufficiently important to warrant an honest discussion and analysis, and a reasoned statement of the Senator’s opposition, perhaps his challenger in the next election will. Tell them you know more about the FairTax then they do, have access to far more information then they do, and are incensed that they would “blow you off” in such a cavalier manner.

I've got a question as a result of a call I made today to Sen. Sherrod Brown's office. The staffer informed that Sen Brown doesn't support the Fair Tax due to info obtained from factcheck.org.

http://www.factcheck.org/taxes/unspinning_the_fairtax.html

My question involves unraveling what I read at factcheck. I admit, some things get to technical for me, but I was put off by the first paragraph of the analysis at the above site. Can someone bottom line this article for me?
Sen Brown's staffer also said that there'd be no way to afford the prebate, which didn't make sense to me when I look at what we're now spending for the IRS to collect taxes and then the amount they fail to collect.

Help me out, guys!

Obama To Poor Blacks – Stay Poor Francis Rice, Charman National Black Republican Association: To his eternal shame, in order to acquire and maintain power, President Barack Obama has adopted the Democratic Party’s strategy of keeping blacks poor, angry and voting for Democrats. Using the politics of poverty and race-baiting, Obama garnered nearly 96 percent of the black vote that helped propel him to the pinnacle of power. That power is now being used by Obama to accomplish his liberal agenda which includes wrecking our economy and weakening our national defense, leaving us vulnerable to another terrorist attack. Thanks, Billie. I'm glad you ( and all the others ) are here! I don't always think to get things posted where they need to be.

I want to say that I'm thrilled to see our numbers growing! Every day there are more of us making ourselves known! Each day, each person, we're one step closer to making the FairTax our reality! I've got my eye on that light at the end of the tunnel.

I just spoke with Congressman Tiberi's office. Prior to this conversation, I had not realized that Tiberi is on the Ways and Means Committee. Interesting.
I posed this question: Congressman Tiberi is the only rep. in Ohio that supports the Fair Tax, not a cosponsor, but supports it, and why is he not speaking out openly and publicly about this issue? I then urged that he become proactive on this issue in a very public way. I pointed out that this is a non partisan issue, embraced by Americans across the political spectrum, then highlighted pertinent facts as to why this issue is a "now" issue. Knowing that Rep. Rangel is chair of Ways and Means clearly indicates that public debate and discussion is vital to moving HR 25 out of committee.

Tiberi needs to hear from Ohio FairTaxers, in large numbers and often. Don't hesitate to call and give him your input, even if you're out of state. I think I'll check with a few others here and see if maybe a meeting should be set up with Tiberi and reps from AFFT. What say you all?

All ideas and suggestions appreciated!
