As many of you know, I will be sharing the fair tax with a group of shelby citizens this satarday and I hope that It will be a start towards building a coilition in shelby, ohio. I will be making an appointment to meet with the shelby newspaper editor today and I hope that I will be able to convince her to at least allow a publishing of the fair tax point of view.

The Shelby memorial library staff has told me that the library offers conference room reservations at no cost and the room can hold at least 100 people. With the speaking engagement on satarday, the newspaper and this meeting, I believe that we can build a fine start in shelby. My fellow citizens are historically active in society. Several fundraisers have been held to support the cause of cancer research and even more recent is the community cleanup day that was designed to help people get involved in protecting the environment. Why would they not join a cause that supports the finacial welfare of our families in a time where there is little or no confidence in the system?

I will host a fair tax meeting in shelby, but I need some help. I have not yet scheduled the meeting, but I hope to soon. Is there at least 3-5 people that can help me with the planning of this event and spreading the word? Due to a tuff schedule and few funds, I can not do this on my own. Who will stand with me? "Divided we fall, but united we will stand." What will you choose?

Heres a article in the Repository that you all may want to respond to.
http://www.cantonrep.com/business/x362988747/Dave-Ramsey-Be-careful-what-you-wish-for-with-Fair-Tax.
We need to educate Dave about how the Fair Tax is progressive and it untaxes the Poor by the Prebate. If you all can sign on to the repository and comment on this article could really help us out up here in the 16th District.

Marion's Popcorn Festival is the first week end of Sept. every year. I would like to set up a booth or something. Don't know what that kind of thing costs, but I'm going to find out. Can you all guide and instruct me with this?
There's a big parade (said to be biggest in Ohio) on that Thurs. nite to start the festival which lasts til midnight that night. Then the festival lasts all day Fri and Sat. till midnight each night.

Any suggestions, tips, money saving ideas will be helpful. I'm such a novice!

Do you all do county fairs, too?

Dave we were not notified. Yes, we need one to keep everyone informed of all that is going on. Billie

I've been out of commission for a week and I'm impressed with what I see happening here. Someone has been working the Columbus area by the looks of the new FTN memebers in that area. Also see some in the Cincinnati area. This is all so exciting. Keep up the good work.

The Westlake 912 Project meeting Saturday was a success. It was a full house and most of the people knew very little to nothing about Fair Tax (that is better than preaching to the choir.) This was their first meeting after the Tea Party so the timing was perfect. Steve, you give a great presentation and I am impressed with your ability to answer tough questions so all those in the room understood. I think the group left encouraged after being introduced to a solution to the problem.

There are dozens of newly formed groups just like this here in Ohio. They are looking for speakers to educate them on the current issues. With the Tea Parties still fresh in their minds I would think presentations like this would be received well at any and all of them.

I agree with Steve. If you are just forming a group you might consider "Friends and Neighbor" groups. There are so many issues. Like getting Congress to follow the Constitution. Like having the Supreme Court follow the law and not make the laws. And of course you know all of the other issues. We need to get good people to run for office, from the town you live in to the US Congress. Check your school board are they liberal of conservative? Check your State politians are they working or just collecting a check? There is a lot of work to be done. Billie in Beavercreek

OH Fair Tax is growing! I'm anticipating more growth in the weeks and months to follow.

Steve, I like your idea. I envy those of you in the Dayton, Centerville, etc., areas; you seem to have a strong foundation. I'm working to get that going here. I've just learned that Mansfield has got a small group of supporters. I'll be connecting with them soon. I don't think they are even aware of FTN. We'll fix that. We represent Congressional District 4.

I met 912 folks at the Col. Tea Party and how I wish I'd had the Fair Tax comparison chart with me! I reassured them that the Fair Tax is a flat tax, only better than the flat tax and gave a short explanation as to why and how.

Had a great meeting with the Westlake 912 Project folks. Rusty has done a fine job of putting together an outstanding group of people (about 60 were there) who really want to see/make a change. Of course, I offered up the FairTax as one change for them to consider, and was well received by the group. Many good questions were asked, and several folks indicated an interest in working on the FairTax.

One good suggestion from Lisa Woods was to start "revisiting" some of the groups to which we have already presented, and answer questions that may have come up after our first visit. At the same time, rather then trying to establish a local FairTax group, several folks suggested that we just attend their's, and talk about the FairTax while visiting.

Given the time commitment associated with running a regular meeting, this may be an idea to consider. Thoughts or comments?
