I just posted this on the KY Group.
What a positive day we had at the Bluegrass Tax Liberation Day!
The people in Ky sure know how to make you feel welcome. ( I must confess that I am a proud native of KY) we had 6 volunteers form OH manning our FairTax table. Thanks to Kate , Rodger, Phil, Susan, and Billie for volunteering for this event. Bill Sanders, from Lexington, was also there to help, thanks Bill. You all did a great job! All of us stayed really busy with answering questions, passing out literature and getting our FairTax Nation petion signed. We collected close to 200 signatures!! Billie has volunteered to enter them on FairTax Nation ... watch the KY membership grow. Thanks Billie, you are a true die Hard and we all love you for your dedication, you are doing a wonderful job.
A special thanks to Bob Whigham for representing the FairTAx at the reception the night before and for his inspiring FairTax speech on Sat. Good Job Bob. Bobs' Speech is on the fairtax Nation site see videos.
I also want to thank Marilyn for promoting this event and securing our table, Marilyn you would be proud of us!! Wish you could have been there, we all came away so charged, I hope all FairTaxers get to experience this high ... Thanks KY for the lift.
All this would not have happened without Dawn Cloyds invitation to the Bluegrass Tax Revolt Day hope to do it again next year. Thanks Dawn

Good morning!! I'm looking forward to being active locally to promote the Fair Tax. At the moment I'm reading the No IRS book, and several PDFs I printed from the site. I'm an avid scuba diver and have discussed the Fair Tax with a few other divers who had some really good questions, mostly about how the Fair Tax affects business. I couldn't answer so I'd better do more reading. Some of the hurdles to passing this bill were discussed and were valid. One big concern is the battle we'll have with the established power base concerning how the IRS is now used as a tool for intimidation, and how the IRS is used as law enforcement when no other way for capturing a crook is available. This will be a powerful issue to overcome.

The Tea Party's were a spectacular success. 28 of them were held in Ohio alone, with tens of thousands of Ohioans taking to the streets. All of the Tea Party's seemed well planned, well executed, informative, entertaining and orderly. But what of the news media?

Before the Tea Party, there was a veritable news blackout about the Tea Party's, because the mainstream media did not want to encourage them with publicity. The news media showed up as they must, but the news broadcasts throughout the day tried to paint Tea Partiers as angry right wing radicals. When their cameras showed something very different than what they wanted to portray, the overwhelming majority of the video was cut out and left on the floor. The solitary spokesman for Log Cabin (gay) Republicans advocating gay marriage in his state got more actual broadcast time, and the coverage he got was much more benign.

There were three notable exceptions to this failure of professional journalism. The first, of course, was "Talk Radio" which actively encouraged and participated in the Tea Party's from a fairly early stage. Contrary to what the media wanted to portray, they didn't start the Tea Party. They just jumped on board very early, and paddled as hard as the rest of us.

The second was Fox News, which is run like a business; they provide the news that people want to know about, instead of forcing down a reluctant audience's throats the leftist ideology that their talking heads want to indoctrinate the American people with. Result? More people watched Fox news for information on Tax Day than watched all the other network news channels combined. And as a result of that, all the other network news channels are laying off people consistent with their declining audiences and declining advertising revenues. May these trends continue. Again, contrary to what the media wanted to portray, Fox didn't start the Tea Party.

Neither did the Republican Party, contrary to what the media wanted to portray. Neither did a bunch of unnamed tycoons (Republican equivalents to George Soros, who owns the democrat party), contrary to what the media wanted to portray. It was truly grassroots organizations, started up by very typical Americans, most of whom were doing something like this for the first time in their life. We ought to know; we take pride in helping people get connected to each other, give them support when needed, advice when asked, and encouragement at every opportunity. It is amazing, over and over again at how they bloom before our very eyes as they rise to the challenge. Give them the credit. The organizers of these events exceeded all expectations by an order of magnitude.

The third notable exception of which we are aware, was our own local Medina Gazette. Like Fox, they write about what their audience wants to hear about, not what they want to indoctrinate their audience with. They gave the Medina Tea Party a fair and accurate write-up before the event, and a fair and accurate write-up after the event. Forty years ago such professional journalism was expected. In these days it is extraordinary.

This reflection on the relatively poor performance of the media in covering the Tea Party's, a Guinness Book of Records breaking event unparalleled in history cannot end here. It ends on this page on our website: http://mcfan.org/GEstrongarm.aspx. That is where you find out about a closed door meeting where the White House sent a thug to urge the mainstream news media to "shut up" about the Tea Party's, and in the future present coverage that is more favorable to the White House.

What does the thug get out of this? Obama's new energy plan is going to require thousands of windmills, which GE sells for $ millions apiece. You connect the dots.

I attended the Cincinnati and the Dayton Tea Party yesterday. Randd Associates, 4725 S. Kettering Blvd, Moraine, OH 45439 provided us with signs to hold and distribute, our printed material, and the big item was red postcards with"YOUR FIRED" to be mailed to our congress. If you would be intersted in purchasing these post cards you can get in touch with Rick Dobson by e-mail at Sales@RanddAssociates.com or by phone at 937-294-1874. I understand you can see a copy of the postcard on FairTaxNation under hand-outs & flyers at the bottom of the page. Or if you were at the Tea Party in Ohio these were the RED postcards everyone wanted.

Received following from Senator G. Voinovich - April 15. '09

"Thank you for contacting me regarding federal tax reform. I appreciate hearing from you on this important matter.

I share your frustrations with the complexities of the tax code. Small business - engines of job creation - are overwhelmed by it. Neighborhood businesses are forced to comply with the same convoluted rules as multinational companies. ...we live in the most competitive global economy we have known, our tax code creates incentives for companies to move jobs and capital overseas. We have redesigned social programs as targeted tax breaks with complex eligibility criteria and restrictions, completely baffling ordinary families who cannot obtain the benefits of these provisions because they are too complicated to understand.

...I re-introduced the SAFE Commission Act - ...establishes a national commission to examine our tax and entitlement system and present long-term solutions.
...I was a proud co-sponsor of the Tax Code Termination Act, introduced by Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) on March 2, 2007. The bill would create a commission to examine different tax reform proposals - including the Fair Tax, Flat Tax, and others - and recommend options to the Congress. The bill would also sunset the entire Internal Revenue Code on July 4, 2010, requiring Congress to replace it with something new before that date.

On January 22, 2009, Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA) introduced S. 296, the Fair Tax Act of 2009.
...First, the Tax Code should not double tax savings and investment, as it currently does. Second, the tax code should not favor foreign-made goods over domestically-produced goods as it currently does. Third, the tax code should have lower, flatter rates than it currently does. The Fair Tax highlights these important policy goals, and I intend to pursue them as Congress considers tax reform proposals.

The Fair Tax Act of 2009 has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee. Although I do not serve on this committee, should this legislation come before the Full Senate for a vote, I will be sure to keep your views in mind."

I will so miss Senator Voinovich, retiring in 2010, This is the type of correspondence I receive on a regular basis; a man who communicates well with his constituency. Don't know if the Senate Finance Committee is headed by Democrat Barney Frank but if it is, we need to pray ardently that God would intervene, changing his heart or moving him out of the way. More importantly, full scale involvement is called for to not only re-vamp and revise our tax system but to bring our country back to its foundational stand. Dave.
