Please Contact Your Local Officials

The following lists and notes were contained in a message from End Ohio's Estate Tax and lists the mayors that testified in favor of keeping the Ohio Estate Tax.

William D. Duncan (R),  Mayor, Oakwood, OH
Scott Hadley (R), Mayor,  Beavercreek, OH
Joseph Honerlaw (R), Trustee, Springfield Twp
 Paulette L. Leeper  (R), Council,Loveland,OH
Donald E. Patterson (R), Mayor, Kettering, OH
David S. Smith, Mayor(R), Lancaster, OH
Deborah Sutherland (R),Mayor,Bay Village, OH
Anthony Upton (R),  Green Township. (Ham.Cty.
)

These above listed Republican officials recently testified to the Ohio House Ways & Means Committee in favor of keeping Ohio's estate tax!  These officials are not only trying to thwart the pledge of Governor Kasich to end the estate tax, but also Treasurer Mandel, Attorney General Dewine, the Ohio Republican State Central Committee, the End Ohio Estate Tax Campaign (including their own residents who signed our petition), the majority of Republicans in the General Assembly, and the majority of rank-and file Republicans.

Greetings,

Senate Bill 5 has become a lightning rod for labor unions in Ohio, overshadowed only by the even more intense battle in Wisconsin.  This Saturday we are privileged to have as our Guest Speaker, a national leader in the battle against union power, Mark Mix, President of the National Right to Work Committee and the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation.  Don't miss the opportunity to meet a national leader, ask questions and to get informed!  The breakfast meeting is this Saturday, Feb. 26th, 8:30 AM at the Coppertop restaurant,  5740 Center Road (State Route 303) between Brunswick and Valley City.  Print the attached flyer to invite your friends and neighbors.

We hope to see you this weekend!

We are having a Tea Party April 15th on the Medina Square from 5 to 7pm.  Would anyone like to set up a Fair Tax table?

Rodger and I went last week to Washington D.C. for the February 9 "Storm the Hill" event, and then stayed for one day to work at the FairTax booth at CPAC.  There were eighteen FairTaxers, from locations distant and near.  We visited the offices of our House representatives, giving thank-you cards and applause to our co-sponsors, and leaving literature for those who have not yet got their minds right.  It was a very interesting experience, and we believe that we had some impact.

Our experience at CPAC reinforced our belief that more and more people know about the FairTax.  There was a lot of interest; we fielded a lot of very good questions, and we collected a lot of signatures.

Ohio Farm Bureau Federation, in conjunction with Ohio House sponsors of House Bill 3 (repeal of Ohio's Estate Tax), will hold a rally this Wednesday, February 16, on the West Lawn at 1:15 PM. While the FairTax ends the Estate Tax, and much more, helping to raise the public's awareness of the impact of the Estate Tax, while wearing your FairTax gear, is a good plan!!!

Greetings,

Tonight, Friday, Jan 28 from 7-9:30 PM, we will be hosting a Meet & Greet at our headquarters ( 4986 Gateway Dr., Ste 206, Medina, OH  44256) for Larry Obhof, who is being recommended by a Selection Committee to fill the Ohio Senate seat being vacated by Bob Gibbs upon his election to Congress.  The purpose of the meeting is to provide our members an opportunity to interact with Larry personally before the Senate Republican Caucus votes to accept the Selection Committee's recommendation and seat him in the 193rd General Assembly.

You are cordially invited to join us.

I don't have any responses from any of those listed regarding the FairTax, but it's a good question to ask.  Let me know what they have to say if you please.

Greetings,

When Bob Gibbs was elected to Congress in Ohio's 18th Congressional District his seat became open. By law the seat will be filled by appointment by the Senate Republican Caucus.

A Selection Committee in the Ohio Senate has narrowed the field of candidates down to four, and this coming Tuesday January 11 the Committee is scheduled to conduct a final interview of the four candidates and recommend one of the four to the Senate Republican Caucus for a vote. That vote will be the appointment.

The four candidates are Matt Miller, Larry Obhof Jr., Robin Hovis and Chuck Calvert.  Does anyone know if any of these canidates support the fair tax?

What I do know is Larry Obhof is a young attorney with impressive credentials, who is a member of Recharge Medina and is supported by that group. Recharge Medina consists of the conservative members of Medina County Central Committee and many of Medina's elected officials. Robin Hovis is Holmes County GOP Chairman, and a member of the state Board of Education. Chuck Calvert is a former two-term state legislator from Medina with a conservative voting record. He came out of retirement a couple of years ago to be appointed to the state Board of Elections, which is charged with upholding election laws and punishing voter fraud. Unfortunately he is being backed by the Medina County GOP Chairman that lit a fire under Betty Sutton's base last year with the injudicious and untimely remark about making her go back to the kitchen.

Matt Miller ran in the Primary against Jim Renacci, for the opportunity to oppose John (Pelosi's Puppet) Boccieri in the 16th Congressional District.  We were very fortunate in having two such great candidates running a clean, issues based campaign in the Primary, and after Renacci won Miller immediately endorsed Renacci and helped him with his campaign. That's the way it is supposed to be. Not many would know, but Matt Miller even came up from Ashland unannounced to work our phone bank on Renacci's behalf.

Matt Miller has attended our meetings on his own initiative many times, and has always been responsive whenever we have called upon him. He always subordinates his own personal interest, in order to serve others. At our meeting this morning he rose to speak, not on his own behalf, but to make sure everyone knew about the March for Life in Cleveland and in Washington this month, and how to catch a bus for the one in Washington. He is a class act and a solid conservative that we can count upon to work hard and represent us well.

Contacts with those on the committee do have an effect and e-mails may be more effective than phone calls as the e-mails are sitting on their desks in the morning.

So, if you want to have your opinion heard, now is the time to contact OR re-contact those on the committee. If you have already contacted them, you can certainly send a follow-up e-mail or phone call, have a family member contact them.
