Tonight Medina County Friends And Neighbors hosted a second Organizing for Action meeting. Our first Organizing for Action meeting was at the request of the host of the dramatically successful Glenn Beck "We Surround Them" meeting, to help the people who attended that event find ways of becoming actively involved and make a difference in defending America from the enemy within. Tonight's meeting was because the attendees of our first Organizing for Action meeting thought we should do it again, for the benefit of those who were unable to attend. And tonight, those who attended wanted us to conduct another Organizing for Action meeting. And we will.

But we will have to change the meeting place again. Our first meeting at Panera Bread was filled to capacity by the 15 people who attended. So we booked the second meeting for a larger room at Donato's. And tonight we filled that room to capacity with over 30 people who attended, including two high school students! In attendance were people from not only Medina County Friends and Neighbors, but also We Surround Them, Recharge Medina, Ohio Christian Alliance, Cleveland Tea Party, Dave's Disciples, Team Sarah, Coast to Coast, Patriotic Resistance, Screaming Eagles, South Cuyahoga Sportsmen and the organizers of the first Cleveland Tea Party (sorry if I left anybody out!).

In the past week one of our volunteers has developed the tools to provide precinct walking lists for every county in Ohio, and we will provide them to conservatives willing to work upon demand, as fast as we can. Tonight, four people volunteered to walk precincts in Medina County. We will be getting them their walking lists immediately, and training sessions and mentors will be provided so that people who have never done this before get a good start. Another attendee volunteered to help us monitor legislation, such as HB 1388 which as currently written requires involuntary servitude of our young in either the military (restore the draft?) or in Obama's civilian army. This is a critical post that will help alert us when immediate action is needed to influence our legislators.

The upcoming Tea Party's in Columbus and Cleveland were discussed, and a team is forming to organize a Tea Party at Medina Square, for those who cannot attend the Columbus or Cleveland demonstrations. If you want to be part of the organizing of that, join the breakout session at the Golden Corral on Saturday at about 10 A.M., after our regular Saturday morning breakfast.

There is work to be done, and every one of us can and must make a difference. As they say in the Navy, "All hands on deck!".

look what the government is doing to the people that speak their minds on radio. its called the fairness act. I would like to see everyone march right down Pennsylvania ave. let them see how we feel. I don't even feel safe anymore.

My concern with the tea parties that it is giving people a chance to vent their anger but then what? The government doesn't care if we vent our anger as long as they can continue business as usual (which they are good at). Have you heard about the Big Stick Tea Party? They have a plan. They are more than just angry, it is a well thought out plan. I hope it will work.

McFaN.org casual breakfast buffet at the Golden Corral, 4913 Grande Blvd. in Medina, Saturday 8:30-10 AM. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity to bring a friend or neighbor and introduce them to the conservative grassroots movement, get informed, get involved and make a difference. Cost is $8 for adults, less for seniors and kids. Matt Miller is Guest Speaker.

Just heard an ad for the Dayton Tea Party. Without a doubt, the anger at Congress and their manipulation/subversion of the tax code is growing, and people want something done.

We need to be ready to give them the FairTax as the answer to their anger and angst.

FairTax.org has to be very careful about endorsing candidates, however individuals are free to support candidates of their choosing. Let's add this to the agenda for the next meetings in Dayton, Beavercreek and Fairborn. There's some things we could do now to prepare for the November 2009 election.

State ratification, if this ever passes the U.S. Senate & House, is a big hurdle.
We need supporters at every level to make sure this passes. State parties are fierce about who they endorse for the ticket & brutal if your choice isn't theirs. They circle the wagons like you cannot believe.
If, however, there was enough initial support for a candidate before they vet & officially endorse, we could influence the selection right from the start.
Otherwise, the Libertarian Party are the only Party that openly endorses the FairTax, and are dedicated to winning the smaller State races than National.

Mitch what can we do?

I don't know about the Democratic Party's process for electing State Central committee members, but electing pro-FairTax members to either State Central Committee is a great idea, but it would also be problematic. Candidates are usually pre-selected by party bosses based on past loyalty to party candidates. It would be difficult to get elected without the endorsement of the leaders of the state parties. Since we have no U.S. Congresspersons who co-sponsored HR 25, it's likely they are advised by party bosses to avoid committing to the FairTax in writing. Once we get a few cosponsors, there would be a better chance to place a FairTax advocate on the state central committee.

Members of the Republican State Central & Executive Committee are elected every two years from each state senate district. By law, each district must be represented by one male and one female member.

How about we put some members on the executive committee that support the Fair Tax? Is that true of the Democratic Party also?
