Urgent message to anyone interested in passage of FAIR TAX

I just received a message from my Senator, Bob Corker, R, TN, say he was very interested in FAIR TAX proposal that is now - he says, being considered by House Ways and Means Committee.   That it is news to me but then, I have only been involved for a couple of days.

Here is the IMPORTANT part - we need to contact EVERY person on that Committee - NOW!!!!

If they do not approve it and send it to the Chairman for consideration by the whole House, it means it is DEAD in this…

Energizing the FAIR TAX initiatives

Recently, I was encouraged write to my new Representative in Congress, promoting the FAIR TAX legislation and - as is typical, there was no response.  She is a Republican, both of my Senators are Republicans.  Normally, I am not concerned about the lack of response, but they are talking about the budget - even as you read this, so it is important that the appropriate committees can hold a hearing on its validity.  Otherwise, we can forget about the possibilities.  Perhaps, by 2012, we might…

Hu JaDaddy? - Commentary on our National Debt and Relationship with China

by: Trent Derr - Morning in America

As I mentioned to some friends, due to the amount of money the President is borrowing from the Chinese, Obama is no longer able to refer to the Chinese leader as Hu Jintao. Now Obama is required to call him Hu JaDaddy.  To paraphrase Jay Leno, the bad news is the Chinese Leader came to the White House this week.  The good news is he said we could keep…

Senator Merkley,

I respectfully request that you join your fellow Senators in co-sponsoring the FairTax bill, a revolutionary proposal for tax reform that will boost our economy by increasing jobs, improving the competitiveness of our businesses in the global marketplace, and decreasing the cost and complexity of our overburdened and outdated tax code.

World Market

I haven't seen any comments about this but it seems to me that with the FairTax this would make our manufacturers here in the U.S. more competitive on the world market due to the reduced prices of manufactured goods as they come out of the factories here.  This would then provide increased growth in business and more job opportunities thus a definite improvement in our nations economy.

We also need to get E-verify implemented nation-wide thus insuring that all these new jobs go to our…

Relentless

Congressional sessions have become like NBA games: they pose, sleepwalk, and talk smack for most of it, then play like they mean it for the last five minutes.

So in a flurry of activity that included every manner of legislative maneuver except for actually reading any of the bills that they passed, our 111th Congress wrapped up its lame duck session by passing a new arms treaty, an extension – sort of - of the Bush tax cuts, unemployment benefit extension, emergency funding to keep…

Washington, DC—On Wednesday, January 5, 2011, Congressman Rob Woodall (GA-07) introduced H.R. 25, the FairTax.  The FairTax legislation eliminates the current income tax paradigm and replaces it with a system of taxation based on consumption.  The…

Quit Suffering

A bright young man noticed my Libertarian Party lapel pin and posed this gotcha question to impress his friends: "so what is your answer to current suffering?" My response: "quit suffering". His friend’s analysis of the exchange: "schooled".

"Schooled" may be a bit harsh, but "quit suffering" was certainly not the answer that the first fellow expected. The modern-day debate about poverty has always revolved around what the government should do about it. Government spending on…

Implimentation of the fairtax from here, is a hard sell to the country. Unless there is a plan to show it off....

I propose to impliment the fair tax where the people have little to loose. American Samoa and territories where taxation kills their jobs. But a tax haven would turn them into economic power houses.

Corporate Welfare to Work

Commenting on last week’s post, Pension Choice, a reader questioned how we would provide jobs for younger workers if older workers postponed their retirements. Once again, my libertarian solution for jobs is ridiculously simple: eliminate the corporate income tax.

Before you let fly with the angry anti-corporate letters, bear in mind the corporate income tax only brings in about $300 billion in a good year, while estimates of the costs of corporate subsidies, bailouts, price…

Pension Choice

For more than 50 years, Democrats and Republicans have known that us baby boomers were going to bankrupt the Social Security system; and for more than 50 years they have both kicked the can down the road. Welcome to the end of the road.

Only the seriously delusional still pretend that any real funds have been accumulated in the Social Security Trust Fund. You can’t spend the same dollar twice, and we have raided the fund year after year to pay for other current government services.…
