The only time the cost of a tax can not be passed on, is when the cost of the tax along with the other costs of production, prices a product out of competition with imports.
Our present system of taxing cascades at each step of production, burdening domestic products with more cost that imports don't have to contend with. The United Sates is currently the only one of the 30 OECD member…

Romney's Gross Income was 13.7M and his bottom line liability from line 61, form 1040 = 1.5M for a 10.9% effective rate under the current system. This is a simplistic way of looking at effective taxes which combines earned and unearned income taxes, thereby taking us out of the “Warren Buffett” discussion.
The Romneys famously gave 30% of their income to charity last year which would have left 9.6M to spend. Assume they put another 30% into savings and investments, net…

We have lots of new members! YAY! I'm thinking it would be a good idea to have a webinar or conference call to help everyone learn how to get the most from FairTaxNation.com.

While covering the RNC 2012 Convention in Tampa, FL, I met a great group of FairTax supporters and activists at an area Unity Rally. Left to right the names are: Ron Maiellaro, Nick Rudelic, Pam Reid, Pete Petzold, Elaine Maiellaro, Pete Adams, Barb Rudelic, Marco Bilante, Ray Budd, Donna Paget, Pat Gianinni, Rudy Treml and Jim Reid. Not in the photo but in attendance are Bob & Carol Mathews and Larry Walters.…

Many years ago I tried getting involved in The Fair Tax movement. I will not say what state, but I tried calling various leaders in various positions. I heard finger pointing, nervous cackling, Gabby Hayes doing his indignant rant from Blazing Saddles. One lady went to tears blubbering I can not find anybody. Sounded like Lucille Ball's early sitcoms. There were no John Waynes. There were no Winston Churchills.
So flaw # 1 in the movement - Leadership or lack of.
I…

One of the most useful quotations that I have used effectively over my 76 years is; "Never try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig."
I have occasionally found myself doing exactly that, as have several of the nice folks responding to Henry. Heck, for whatever reason, he opposes the Fair Tax. I guess he just enjoys annoying people - but that is all he seems to be accomplishing here.
I love the snide post cards, and will certainly…

One way is to contact everyone in your e-mail address book asking them to check out your facebook page after you have posted the FairTax video "Let's Fire up Our Economic Engine" on there: http://www.fairtax.org/site/PageServer

Have a standing petition list on the FairTax.org website where supporters can record their support. This is necessary so Americans for Fair Taxation can go to every Congressman and Senator in the country and actually show them the names of supporters in their districts and states.
It's too easy for our elected representatives to dismiss the Fair Tax Act saying that their "constituents don't support it." We have to be able to show the politicians that their constituents DO support the…

Congressman Rob Woodall, sponsor of the Fair Tax Bill HR 25, raised an interesting point in his radio interview on www.FairTaxTime.com the Fair Tax radio program there are a million ways to help pass the Fair Tax.
In talking to people who would like to help pass the Fair Tax I am often asked "What can I do to help". My suggestion is we all work together to make a list of one million ways to pass the Fair Tax. Keep it simple and short.…

1) They increase the perception government is free to a wider audience.
I remember in 1999, Steve Forbes stated the average family of four wouldn't pay taxes on the first $34,000 under his flat income tax proposal. Every plan I've seen (I haven't seen details of either Romney's or Ryan's tax plan; only an outline), has a higher initial exempted amount to counter claims they would hurt the poor. By doing so, they are extending the number of people who believe…

I have read HR6169 in its entirety and it is my opinion, and the opinion of others, that we should get behind HR 6169 for the following reasons:
1. HR6169 is co-sponsored by Congressman Rob Woodall. If there is any person in congress that we FairTaxers feel we can trust, it is Congressman Woodall. He has not steered us wrong, and if he is behind it, that's good enough reason for me.
Other co-sponsors of HR-6169 include (those Bolded are also co-sponsors of…

All over the country including in the halls of Congress, Americans are beginning to see the Income Tax as a failed system that cries out for fundamental reform. The question is no longer, how can the Income Tax be improved, but rather how can we reduce collecting revenue to its simplest, fairest form? In 2005, then President, Bush, convened a panel to answer that question. His charge to them included the requirement that whatever they came up with must encourage economic growth. As with…

Why eliminate the estate and gift taxes?
A estate tax with a $5,000,000 exception would tax large estates without taxing middle class assets to be left to family. This tax would tax large estates that have avoided the sales tax that is the FairTax.
The gift tax with a $50,000 exception would limit the availability to transfer a large estate without the payment of the estate tax.
These taxes would enable the FairTax 23% to be lowered.

I like Herman Cain! But Mr. Cain has taken a path on tax reform that is marginalizing the efforts of the legions of FairTax advocates who have worked tirelessly for years to bring about true tax reform. He insists that we need a ‘stepping stone’, called ‘9-9-9’, to get to the FairTax. This position and the implementation of 9-9-9 will ensure that we will never get meaningful tax reform, or at least have it tabled for another 30 years or so. Sure, 9-9-9 will initially simplify…
