A Good Reason for FAIR TAX

I have an acquaintance that is a CPA.  Although we get along very well, I really can’t call him a friend.  The main reason is that I’m a gung-ho conservative who is dead set against the Federal Income Tax.  Conversely, he is dead set against the FAIR TAX, a national consumption tax and totally infatuated with the IRS and income tax.

My idea of an ideal governmental situation is no income tax, no FAIR TAX and no flat tax.  Collect taxes the same way that it was done prior to…

A FACINATING FACET

A FACINATING FACET

There are a number of differences between the FairTax plan and other plans occupying the current political debate. I thought of contrasting the 9-9-9 plan specifically however it seems that Herman Cain…

Let's rename (rebrand) the flat tax

Let's rebrand the flat tax to the “Drug Dealer Relief Act” since criminals will never pay income taxes, flat or not. Then refer to it that way every time. When anyone says flat tax, you say "You men the drug dealer relief act".  Feel free to disseminate this re-branding far and wide.

Even Plato knew…

Why should I locate my businesses in the USA?

I sent this to my Senators and my Rep.  I suggest you do the same to yours.

I doubt you know much about my business background.  Suffice it to say that I am an entrepreneur with half of my experience in the US and half overseas.  I have three new businesses. One is approaching readiness to go large scale.  It is a product that requires professional consulting and therefore will employ many people.  The second is a consumer product that is still in the engineering stage – but…

 AMERICA’S ROAD TO PROSPERITY

Conclusion

In this final installment of the FAIRTAX series I want to review the content of the series and give a few personal thoughts on our country, our system, and how I see the FAIRTAX being an integral part of the solution to our debt issue, though not the only aspect, and of how we get the United States back on steady…

THE PRE-BATE

In this installment of the FAIRTAX series I want to cover the “pre-bate” provision of the plan.  The “pre-bate” is a provision designed to help with the basic necessities of life, to essentially “un-tax” food, medicine, utility costs, clothing, etc. up to the poverty level.  It is not designed to help the “rich” buy new cars…

 BRINGING JOBS BACK TO AMERICA

In this installment of the FAIRTAX series I want to cover the impact of jobs, particularly manufacturing jobs, coming back to the United States.  When Bill Archer (R-Tex.) was the chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, the tax writing body of Congress, he often quoted a survey of 500 international…

TODAY’S TAX CODES, THE COST OF COMPLIANCE

In this installment of the FairTax series I want to cover the cost of compliance and enforcement with today’s tax codes.  Before I go into the complexities of compliance and enforcement I want to spend a few minutes dispelling the favorite myth of the anti-FairTax crowd.  One of the things…

AMERICA’S ROAD TO PROSPERITY

AN INTRODUCTION

A couple of years ago I began hearing about a new concept in taxation.  This new concept is called The FairTax.  I didn’t pay much attention because I thought “how is any tax fair?” when some pay and some don’t.  At first I dismissed it as another scam to throw me off the track of an out of control government looking for…

Let's take it on the Road.

Tomorrow, we'll be on the road again. Speaking in Muscatine and Ottumwa. What better avenue to get the FairTax message out than a congressional campaign. I am the only candidate in this district speaking about the FairTax. I hope you will support my effort to promote the FairTax and restore Constitutional limits on our federal government. http://gatesforcongress.org

Dark Horse Candidate Dividing FairTax Advocates

Some are saying Herman Cain is "disingenuous".  Are upset at his 9-9-9- idea.  Maybe rightly so but. . .

I know exactly how you Feel.  We have busted it trying to maintain a pure effort for the FairTax, "as written".  But if you look at the choices we have in this field of candidates including potentially and worse yet, Chris Christie, another "establishment" player, who offers the…

FairTax: In all Fairness!

“One person’s idea of “fairness” is another person’s idea of class warfare. I say if everyone is treated equally under the FairTax law at the point of taxation, then that’s is strong evidence of Fairness. If every legal resident’s tax on necessities is prepaid, then that is strong evidence of equal treatment under law and of fairness.

Why is it fair to use a different...

Where Were You When They Raised The Debt Ceiling (Part Two)

In an earlier post on the debt ceiling, I asked if you could recall where you were when a “sentinel event” such as the bombing of Perl Harbor, assassination of JFK or the terrorist attacks of 9-11 occurred.  These incidents had a profound effect on life in America, for both our national psyche and for each of us personally.

On August 2, 2011, without any significant cuts in the level of federal spending, the Senate voted by a wide margin in favor of a bill already passed by the…

JFK on the income tax - who knew?

"The largest single barrier to full employment of our manpower and resources, and to a higher rate of economic growth, is the unrealistically heavy drag of federal income taxes on private purchasing power, initiative and incentive." - President John F. Kennedy in a special message to Congress on tax reduction and reform Jan. 24, 1963

Even back in 1963, JFK knew how crippling income taxes are.
