Not Just Interest, but the Principal Too!

One of the linchpins of the arguments against the FairTax is the supposed loss of the mortgage interest deduction for middle-income homeowners. The answer should look like this:

Not only are the benefits of the mortgage interest deduction (MID) still in place, the FairTax adds a mortgage principle deduction as well. That's something that the current system just doesn't offer. Let's take a look...

Under the current system, a taxpayer deducts personal exemptions for him/herself…

The Cain Train and 9-9-9: The Wooly Mammoth Tax Code will live On!!

I like Herman Cain! But Mr. Cain has taken a path on tax reform that is marginalizing the efforts of the legions of FairTax advocates who have worked tirelessly for years to bring about true tax reform. He insists that we need a ‘stepping stone’, called ‘9-9-9’, to get to the FairTax. This position and the implementation of 9-9-9 will ensure that we will never get meaningful tax reform, or at least have it tabled for another 30 years or so. Sure, 9-9-9 will initially simplify…

I know support for the fairtax is not dead

I know support for the fairtax is not dead and more post in support of the fairtax will help educate people on its virtues, e.g. its ability to turn the economy around, reverse the trade deficit, bring jobs back to america, make free trade fairer, increase productivity, eliminate 1/2 of lobbying in congress, make politicians listen to their constituents more, and eliminate billions of hours and billions of dollars spent to comply with a massively complex tax code, thereby leaving more…

FairTax movie

Greetings all FairTaxers:

What if someone could make a movie about the Fair Tax? A documentary or something like that? Maybe we could get somebody like Michael Moore to get in on it. He has made some great documentaries, like "Fahrenheit 911", etc. A movie would certainly publicize it like nothing else could. People love movies and will pay to see one. Imagine the headline in the movie section of newspapers saying something like: "See the latest movie about the greatest thing to ever… Continue

What is this business about the fairtax collecting taxes from Government consumption.

An important thing to remember is that the fairtax replaces the income tax.

In order to understand why the fairtax taxes government consumption, we need to first understand how government collects taxes from government's spending under present income taxes. To simplify the discussion, imagine a group of people on an island. Every year, each chips in 22% of his income to pay for things important to the group.

One year the…

Special Interests groups

Above all, we must realize that no arsenal, or no weapon in the arsenals of the world, is so formidable as the will and moral courage of free men and women. It is a weapon our adversaries in today's world do not have.

-Ronald Reagan

A good compromise, a good piece of legislation, is like a good sentence; or a good piece of music. Everybody can recognize it. They say, 'Huh. It works. It makes sense.'

Why Michigan’s Tea Parties Should Unite Behind Replacing MI’s Income Tax with the MI FairTax

We, the people of Michigan, are alarmed, and we have taken to the streets because of what we sense is the loss of proper respect and service by those we’ve sent to Lansing (and Washington) to represent US! However, unless our Michigan Tea Parties can channel energy into a vehicle of concrete action, the past century has shown us that we’re likely to continue to proceed down the path to less freedom, fewer liberties, less economic opportunity, more taxes, and larger… Continue

Rossville, GA FairTax Rally

I just wanted to remind everyone that we are holding a FairTax demonstration at the Rossville post office in Rossville, Georgia on this Wednesday, April 15, 2009.

If you are in the immediate area and can stop by at all, even if only your lunch break, we'd certainly value your help...especially since, thus far, my two eldest sons (ages 15 and 12) and I are the only participants.

But, guess what? We are going to do it anyway!

I also have a request in to a friend… Continue

Send a FairTax Tea Bag to Washington

There has been a lot of noise made recently about sending tea bags to Washington to express our growing concerns about unfair and exorbitant taxes. While I think this is a great idea in theory it is not very practical. For one thing the tea bags will likely not get past the security measures at the Post Office, and for another you would be paying yet another tax in the form of postage to get it there. Here is the next best thing to inundating our… Continue

Two FairTax Letters Published!

Well, I was very excited two weeks ago, when I got my first FairTax letter to the editor published in my local county paper (Walker County Messenger) here in northwest Georgia, but...

I was doubly excited when I got my second FairTax letter to the editor published just five days later in the Chattanooga Times-Free Press, a paper with a much larger circulation!

I have finished reading The FairTax Book and am almost finished reading FairTax: The Truth, and I am determined to… Continue

My Reaction To Representative Steve King's Presentation of the Fair Tax to Congress

First, I think that Congressman King presented himself well in his speech. Since the average attention span is about 15 minutes, after which the viewer zooms out temporarily it is important to capture and keep the attention of viewers. Steve King allotted time for Congressman John Linder and other Fair Tax co sponsors. Each segmant was short and gave a differing viewpoint. Good Job Congressman!

Second, the Fair Tax was presented in an appealing light to low income and middle class… Continue

FairTax Letter Text Published

OK, many of you have been waiting, as I have for my letter to the editor of our local paper to appear online.

Well, wouldn't ya know it...They printed it in the paper, but not online thus far. So, I have decided to post it here and get on with it.

My hope is that it will inspire others to do the same in their local publications. Hopefully the events of late has awakened the sleeping giant of the American people because we are not willing to let the Liberals, Socialists,… Continue

Thoughts after watching Fox News Sunday & how the FairTax helps with upward mobility.

Watching Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace & keyed into a discussion about race.

The conversation moved to hyper-segregation of schools with little being done to remedy the situation.

Consider this. The paths to upward mobility have diminished significantly in the last several decades as globalization has taken hold. Why? We chased a many low-skill jobs away from our lands.

Our nation has taken the path to upward mobility away from the least fortunate among… Continue

The FairTax and the AARP.

I am on a Yahoo Group for Calfornia FairTax leadership. One message that came across today was a reply by the AARP to a FairTax supporter indicating why the AARP could not endorse the FairTax. June's web address is webactivist@aarp.org if anyone else would like to follow up with her.

Dear June.

This is our chance ..... (ignore typos, I blog from my phone)

Every corporation in the world is gasping for air and quite a few have gone under. This is not a a bad situation it is a great opportunity! Ignore all the talk about how we got here because what's important is how we get out. We can follow the rest of the nations and natioanlize the banks and major corporations that we feel are too big to allow to fail or we can take the lead. We have the most educated and productive workforce in the world and everyday more of them are being sent home on… Continue

American Dream or American Nightmare (Housing, Bubbles, and the FairTax)

What does the American Dream mean to you? Perhaps each of us has our own definition but at its core it probably includes to live a peaceful and prosperous life. But where does home ownership fit in? Isn’t that part of the dream? Well, if you ask many at this particular snapshot in time, home ownership is definitely a dream… a nightmare.

Why did our government put so much emphasis on home ownership as part of the American Dream? One key reason is that it needed to create more demand… Continue
